Teaching Assistant (College Setting) - Tonbridge and Malling, Kent

About the Role

We are currently recruiting Teaching Assistants to work in a welcoming and inclusive further education college located near Tonbridge, Kent. The college provides a broad range of academic and vocational courses, and prides itself on offering a supportive environment that enables every learner to thrive.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is enthusiastic, patient and motivated by helping young people reach their potential. The role involves providing in-class and one-to-one support to students aged 16–19 (and occasionally adult learners), helping to make learning accessible and engaging for all.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support students within lessons across a range of subjects and levels.
  • Provide targeted assistance to learners who may need additional help to access the curriculum.
  • Work closely with teaching staff to prepare and adapt learning materials.
  • Encourage independence, confidence and progress among students.
  • Contribute to maintaining a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback to teaching teams.
Person Specification
  • A genuine interest in supporting young people's learning and development.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Flexible, proactive and able to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Previous experience working with young people or in an educational setting is desirable but not essential.
  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths required.
  • Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or willingness to work towards one) advantageous.
  • Enhanced DBS check required (or willingness to obtain one).
