The successful candidate will play a crucial role in providing individualised support to students with Special Educational Needs (SEN), ensuring they receive the necessary guidance and assistance to thrive academically and socially. Responsibilities
  • Collaborating with teachers to develop and implement personalised learning plans tailored to the unique needs of each SEN student
  • Providing one‑on‑one support and guidance to students, helping them navigate challenges and overcome barriers to learning
  • Assisting with the preparation of educational materials and resources that cater to the specific learning styles and abilities of SEN students
  • Monitoring and recording student progress, maintaining accurate records, and communicating regularly with teachers and parents
  • Encouraging student participation in classroom activities and promoting a positive, inclusive atmosphere that fosters a love for learning
  • Attending and contributing to meetings with teachers, parents, and other professionals to discuss student progress and develop strategies for success
  • Participating in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in SEN education and enhance your skills as a Teaching Assistant
Qualifications
  • Relevant qualifications in education, special needs support, or a related field (e.g. Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, NVQ, or equivalent)
  • Previous experience working with children or young people with Special Educational Needs, preferably in an educational setting
  • Strong understanding of various learning difficulties and disabilities such as autism spectrum disorder, dyslexia, and ADHD
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, teachers, and parents
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting and empowering students with diverse needs
  • Ability to adapt to individual learning styles and employ creative teaching methods to engage and motivate students
  • Proficient in using technology and educational software to support learning and record‑keeping
  • Familiarity with relevant legislation, such as the Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) Code of Practice
