Full-Time Cover Opportunity: Teacher of Speech & Drama (LAMDA)

The Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Teacher of Speech & Drama (LAMDA) to join a dynamic and creative Performing Arts Department at an independent day and boarding school for girls aged 3 to 18. The school is known for its friendly, nurturing, and ambitious community, fostering a close-knit, joyful, and purposeful environment.

This full-time cover position is vital in enriching the department's vision by inspiring enthusiasm for Drama, developing student's performance skills, and cultivating a genuine love of theatre.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver engaging LAMDA lessons across a range of grades (2-8) and disciplines (e.g., Acting, Verse & Prose, Public Speaking).
  • Teach students predominantly in pairs (2:1 ratio) for 30-minute weekly sessions, following the LAMDA syllabus.
  • Prepare and support students for on-site LAMDA examinations, managing all examination entries and liaising with the exams board.
  • Maintain regular communication with parents regarding progress and outcomes.
  • Contribute to the wider life of the Performing Arts Department, including showcases, events, and extracurricular activities.
What We Are Looking For (Person Specification Summary)
  • Qualifications: Relevant Drama or Performing Arts qualification (Undergraduate, LGSM, or equivalent). PGCE, QTS, or equivalent is desirable.
  • Experience: Experience teaching the LAMDA syllabus across a variety of disciplines up to Grade 8. Experience managing exam entries is desirable.
  • Qualities: Commitment to academic excellence, excellent organisational skills, high professional integrity, and the ability to build a good rapport with students, colleagues, and parents.
