The Opportunity

As Employment and Expatriate Tax Manager, you'll be the technical expert on employment and expatriate tax matters across EDF UK. You'll ensure compliance with HMRC requirements and provide advice for our UK and international populations, including around 200 expats in multiple countries. We are flexible in location and you will need to be able to travel to the London office at least once a month. The salary range is circa £80,000 - £90,000 depending on experience.

You’ll manage tax governance, reporting and advisory for 12,000+ employees and 4,000+ contractors, with responsibility for expat tax payments exceeding £8m annually. From PAYE and PSAs to short‑term business visitor reporting, you'll make sure we meet every compliance requirement.

Who You Are

We're looking for someone who combines technical expertise with strong stakeholder skills. To be shortlisted, you need to offer:

  • In‑depth knowledge of employment and expatriate tax and social security compliance.
  • Significant experience in a senior in‑house, advisory firm or HMRC employment tax role.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels.
  • Strong stakeholder management and relationship‑building skills.
  • Ability to plan, prioritise and manage concurrent projects.
  • High levels of confidentiality and commercial awareness.
  • Desirable: Experience managing assignees moving to and from France, French language skills.
  • Professional qualification (e.g., ATT, CTA) or equivalent experience.
What You’ll Be Doing
  • Managing employment tax and social security reporting for all EDF employing entities.
  • Providing UK tax and social security support to the expat population.
  • Liaising with HMRC and managing enquiries for expats.
  • Advising on payroll, assignments, incentive plans and relocation.
  • Researching and implementing changes in tax legislation.
  • Leading development of policies and procedures under the guidance of the Head of Reward Pay, Benefits and Culture.
