Overview

Job Purpose
To support the efficient running of the timber yard and mills by tallying, stacking, and moving timber. The role involves safely operating a forklift to load, unload, and transport timber packs, ensuring materials are accurately recorded and handled in line with company standards.

Responsibilities

• Timber Handling & Tallying: Count, check, and record incoming and outgoing timber.
• Timber Handling & Tallying: Ensure correct labelling, tally sheets, and stock records are maintained.
• Timber Handling & Tallying: Stack and prepare timber for processing or dispatch.
• Forklift Operations: Safely operate a forklift to load/unload vehicles and move timber packs in and out of the mills.
• Forklift Operations: Drop, lift, and transfer timber bundles in line with production requirements.
• Forklift Operations: Carry out daily checks and basic maintenance of forklift equipment.
• Yard & Mill Support: Work with mill teams to ensure smooth flow of timber to and from processing areas.
• Yard & Mill Support: Maintain a safe, tidy, and organised working environment.
• Yard & Mill Support: Follow all health & safety and manual handling procedures.

Skills & Experience

• Proven experience in a timber yard, warehouse, or similar environment.
• Valid forklift licence (counterbalance or equivalent).
• Ability to accurately tally and record stock.
• Good communication skills and team player.
• Commitment to safe working practices.

Desirable

• Knowledge of timber products and grades.
• Experience working in a sawmill or timber production environment.
