Job description

We are seeking several highly skilled Systems Engineers with a range of experience levels to join our team, working within the Nuclear sector for a long‑term strategic client in Control and Instrumentation (C&I) systems. These roles demand a strong technical foundation in electronic and software control systems. The successful candidates will be responsible, as part of a team, for overseeing the architecture, implementation and integration of complex systems, driving innovation, and ensuring the seamless delivery of project milestones. Hybrid working: The places that you work from day to day will vary according to your role, your needs, and those of the business; it will be a blend of company offices, client sites, and your home; noting that you will be unable to work at home 100 % of the time. If you are successfully offered this position, you will go through a series of pre‑employment checks, including identity, nationality (single or dual) or immigration status, employment history going back three continuous years, and an unspent criminal record check (known as Disclosure and Barring Service).

Your Role

You can bring your whole self to work. At Capgemini building an inclusive future is part of everyday life and will be part of your working reality. We have built a representative and welcoming environment, for everyone.

Responsibilities
  • Work with stakeholders to understand and define their needs and manage the relationship to resolve any issues that arise during the development process.
  • Propose options and choose the optimal solution using a structured down‑selection process considering all aspects of the lifecycle (e.g., maintenance, operation, procurement, decommissioning).
  • Collaborate with multi‑disciplined (process, mechanical, electrical, software) teams ensuring interfaces are defined and managed appropriately.
  • Define functional and logical architectures that meet the system and stakeholder needs, using Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools and methodologies.
  • Communicate technical information clearly and concisely, adjusting the approach for the audience.
  • Champion engineering excellence, innovation, and compliance with regulatory and industry standards (e.g., IEC 61508).
  • Support the safety team in justifying safety cases and interacting with the regulators and independent assessors.
  • Write, review and manage requirements and their links across the development lifecycle.
  • Author and assess specifications to ensure they meet the applicable requirements.
  • Identify appropriate verification methods for different requirements and support the definition of tests.
  • Experience successfully delivering a validated, complex system to a customer.
  • Support our high‑performance culture by challenging the team to continuously improve our knowledge, processes and capabilities.
  • Provide technical oversight of other team member’s work.
Qualifications
  • Degree‑qualified in a relevant engineering or STEM discipline, with significant experience in a systems engineering role.
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or working towards it.
  • Deep expertise in electronic and software systems, ideally within complex, regulated environments.
  • Demonstrated success in stakeholder engagement and governance processes.
  • Experience in the nuclear sector is preferable, but not mandatory.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) checks will be required.
Security & Clearance

There are no nationality or residency restrictions, although if you have resided outside of the UK within the last three years, further checks may be required. Other criteria and checks are required for BPSS and, throughout the recruitment process, you will be asked questions about your security clearance eligibility such as, but not limited to, country of residence and nationality.

Benefits
  • Be part of a pioneering project in the nuclear sector.
  • Opportunity to be part of a high‑performance team who support and encourage personal development.
  • Competitive salary and benefits package.
  • Work in a dynamic and innovative environment.
