Overview

We are seeking a Systems Accountant Optimisation SME to join our Digital Strategy Programme. This role will play a key part in transforming finance systems and processes, ensuring robust financial control, data integrity, and automation to support future ways of working. Sitting within the Finance workstream, this business-facing role bridges finance operations and digital systems, engaging with stakeholders, SMEs, and end-users to deliver efficient, transparent, and best-in-class solutions.

Responsibilities
  • Act as SME for systems accounting, shaping to-be processes and resolving current system pain points.
  • Lead optimisation of finance systems strategy, integrations, and automation opportunities.
  • Provide technical support for ERP and finance applications, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations.
  • Strengthen governance, controls, and quality assurance across finance systems.
  • Support training, enablement, and knowledge management to build digital capability across Finance.
  • Collaborate with internal IT, Digital & Data teams, and third-party providers to align finance systems with wider enterprise strategy.
  • Partner with project teams to ensure effective design, testing, and deployment of solutions.
  • Significant experience managing and administering finance systems.
  • Proven ability to identify and implement systems improvements to meet business needs.
  • Strong knowledge of financial controls and day-to-day accounting processes.
  • Proficient in ERP systems, data tools, and reporting platforms (eg Power BI, Business Warehouse).
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement, analytical skills, and problem-solving ability.
  • Resilient, adaptable, and able to work at pace in a changing environment.
