The Trust computer-based Switchboard provides the first point of contact for most callers into East Surrey Hospital.
As well as working as part of the switchboard, the post holder is responsible for the day to day supervision of switchboard and the consistent delivery of a high standard telephony/Switchboard service ensuring continuity of services and a quality, customer focused service.
The post holder should present as a role model and show high standards of professionalism, to work calmly and efficiently and be able to make decisions in what is often a high-level and fast-moving environment. Staff are frequently required to make immediate decisions in the event of problems and this can require a high standard of response and discretion. Part of the role of the Switchboard Supervisor is to suggest improvements and ensure that adequate shift cover is in place enabling an efficient, informative and professional service to all external and internal callers into the hospital and during emergency situations.
