Job summary

A leading housing support organization in Omagh seeks a Support Worker to assist individuals with learning disabilities in a supported living accommodation. Candidates must have relevant qualifications and experience, and they will benefit from training and development opportunities as well as competitive leave and pension schemes.

Qualifications

  • Must have 6 months experience in a formal care/support role or 2 years’ experience in a formal care/support role.
  • Must be currently registered with NISCC or achieve registration within 6 months.
  • Must be willing to work towards completion of relevant qualification.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 24-hour staff support to tenants in a supported living environment.
  • Assist tenants in developing skills and participating in day-to-day decision making.
  • Support individuals with mild to moderate learning disabilities.

Railway Court is a supported living accommodation giving support and care for up to 23 tenants with mild to moderate learning disabilities. It is situated centrally within Omagh. Railway Court provides 24-hour staff support services, 365 days a year supporting tenants to develop skills and get involved in day-to-day decision making.

QCF/NVQ 2 Health and Social Care or equivalent
And
6 months experience in a formal care/support role* and previous experience of working with individuals with learning disabilities/ mental health issues.

Must be currently registered with NISCC or if new to the sector must achieve registration within 6 months.

Or
2 years’ experience in a formal care /support role* and previous experience of working with individuals with Learning Disabilities/ Mental Health issues.

Must be currently registered with NISCC or if new to the sector must achieve registration within 6 months

Must be willing to work towards the completion of relevant qualification.

*Formal Care / Support may include caring at home, where the carer is in receipt of Carers’ Allowance. Formal Care / Support may also include voluntary work in a formal setting.
