About this child

Josh is 6 years old and lives with his parents and younger brother in their fully adapted home in Southfields. He is a sweet, engaging little boy whose smile lights up the room. Josh sustained a Perinatal Hypoxic Brain Injury at birth and has dystonic cerebral palsy and epilepsy, resulting in complex medical needs. He receives all nutrition, fluids and medication via PEG and requires regular suctioning. Josh is non-verbal and communicates through facial expressions, body language and sounds. His care is nurse-led, with a highly skilled team providing 24/7 support to ensure his health, care and therapy needs are met.

Overview of role

Josh is supported on a 2:1 basis at all times. The team follows a detailed care and therapy plan, supporting all activities of daily living, complex care and rehabilitation. Weekday shifts include the school run followed by after-school and evening routines. Weekends are activity-filled, with the team enabling Josh to access play, stimulation and family time. Bespoke training is provided, however applicants must already be confident in PEG care, suctioning and seizure management.
