We are working with a dedicated and progressive primary academy situated in the area of Sheffield. This educational setting operates within a robust multi‑academy trust framework, benefiting from significant shared resources, clear professional development pathways, and a strong culture of high expectations for staff and pupils alike. They require a dynamic and dedicated Teaching Assistant to reinforce classroom instruction and drive targeted interventions across the primary phase.
The Teaching Assistant will hold key responsibilities to support pupil attainment and the classroom environment:
Focused Interventions: Plan, prepare, and deliver short, evidence‑based intervention sessions (e.g., specific phonics groups, number fluency practice) to small groups of pupils.
Assessment Administration: Assist the Class Teacher in administering internal progress checks and standardised tests, ensuring accurate and compliant data collection.
EHCP Support: Provide dedicated 1:1 support to pupils with Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs), carefully documenting progress against defined targets.
Resource Digitisation: Utilise Academy IT resources to help create and adapt digital learning materials and support classroom technology usage.
Behavioural Reinforcement: Consistently uphold the Academy's positive behaviour policy, assisting in the de‑escalation of incidents and promoting self‑regulation skills.
Outdoor Learning: Supervise and facilitate purposeful learning activities during outdoor sessions and educational visits.
Liaison: Provide structured, concise written and verbal feedback to the Class Teacher and relevant specialists regarding pupil performance and well‑being.
The Academy expects applicants to demonstrate the following:
Qualification: NVQ Level 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools (or equivalent qualification) is essential.
Experience: Proven, recent experience supporting pupils within an Academy Trust or large, high‑expectation school setting.
Core Knowledge: Excellent working knowledge of primary phonics and basic mental maths strategies.
IT Proficiency: Competency in using basic classroom technology and data input systems (e.g., MIS/tracking software).
Personal Qualities: A high degree of professional initiative, reliability, and resilience suitable for a busy academy environment.
