Job description

Title: Supply Chain Director

Contract Type: Permanent 35 hours Full-Time

Salary: Circa 110000 per annum (London weighted salary) or Circa 95000 per annum (Regional salary) dependant on experience

Grade: 14

Reporting Office: London Stratford or Manchester Trafford

Persona: Agile Worker : 20% - 40% of contractual hours to be worked from reporting office / working location (hybrid working)

Interview Dates: 1st stage interviews will take place w / c 3rd November 2025 followed by 2nd stage interviews taking place W / C 17th November 2025 for those successful at first interview. Please note that in person interviews will be held for at least one of the interview stages for this role.

Why this role is exciting

This is a rare opportunity to lead a strategic transformation of Supply Chain management across one of the UKs leading Housing Associations. As Supply Chain Director you’ll be at the heart of shaping how L&Q buys manages and collaborates with suppliers driving innovation efficiency and resilience across our entire organisation.

You wont be managing tenders or day-to-day procurement delivery. Instead you’ll be setting the strategic tone for Supply Chain activity across L&Q operating within a hub and spoke model. You’ll focus on developing the Group wide Supply Chain framework including alignment to corporate strategy relevant legislation and including the approach to category management.

This is a key leadership role in L&Q which will have real impact in leading the central Supply Chain hub team where working closely with the Commercial spoke teams and wider business you’ll ensure the Supply Chain framework is fully implemented and subject to continuous improvement.

Who you’ll lead and work with

You’ll lead a small but high-impact central Supply Chain team (Hub) and provide strong leadership performance management and direction to the leadership of the commercial Spoke teams on the execution of the Supply Chain Framework fostering a culture of collaboration accountability and continuous improvement. You’ll be collaborating with senior leaders across the business but also represent L&Q externally in industry forums.

What you’ll be doing
  • Strategic Leadership : Define and deliver a Supply Chain framework that aligns with L&Q’s long-term goals.
  • Category Management : Lead the development of a robust category management approach that will be delivered by Spokes to streamline vendor relationships and reduce risk.
  • Hub & Spoke Model : Oversee the central hub ensuring seamless collaboration and compliance across all Spoke teams.
  • Spend Process & Systems Innovation : Drive continuous improvement through analysis of spend for efficiencies standardised processes data and improvements to technology.
  • Risk & Compliance : Closely work with the Commercial Spokes and wider business to ensure risks are identified assessed and appropriate controls are put in place.
  • Stakeholder engagement : Work closely with internal departments and external partners to build a resilient and responsive supply chain
How you’ll help in achieving L&Q’s goals
  • Driving Strategic Alignment : By ensuring procurement activities are aligned across all departments the Supply Chain Director will ensure L&Q is working towards cost effective consistent and reliable services for all our residents.
  • Enabling Operational Efficiency : Through the Hub and Spoke model the Supply Chain Director will drive the standardisation of policy processes and standard operating procedures which will help to reduce duplication and inefficiencies across departments.
  • Improving Spend Visibility and Control : Through effective spend analysis and category management the Supply Director will help departments fully understand where money is being spent and the opportunities for consolidation and potential cost savings.
