Substance Misuse Nurse – Wakefield

Location : Wakefield, West Yorkshire

Rate : £26 – £32 per hour (depending on experience and payment method)

Hours : Monday to Friday, Full-Time (Part-Time considered)

Contract : 3 Months Minimum (extension likely)

Belmont Recruitment are currently looking for an experienced and motivated Substance Misuse Nurse to join a well-established community drug and alcohol service in Wakefield.

This role focuses on providing clinical care and harm reduction interventions to individuals affected by substance misuse, including those using opiates, alcohol, and other substances. You’ll be part of a supportive multi-disciplinary team, delivering compassionate and person-centred care to those on their recovery journey.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out comprehensive health and risk assessments for service users entering treatment
  • Administer and manage opiate substitution treatments (OST), including methadone and buprenorphine
  • Deliver BBV screening, vaccination, wound care, and other clinical interventions
  • Provide harm reduction advice, including safer injecting, naloxone distribution, and relapse prevention
  • Liaise with GPs, pharmacies, mental health teams, and safeguarding services as needed
  • Maintain accurate clinical records and contribute to multi-disciplinary case reviews
