Subject Leader – PSHE
Heathside Walton‑on‑Thames (Starting September 2026)
Full Time - Permanent (MPR/UPR (fringe) + TLR 2b £5,959)
At Heathside Walton‑on‑Thames, an Ofsted‑rated Outstanding secondary school, we believe that exceptional pastoral education is the foundation for confident, compassionate and resilient young people. As our new Subject Leader for PSHE, you will shape a curriculum that equips students with the knowledge, values and life skills they need to flourish in an ever‑changing world. We are seeking a passionate educator with a deep commitment to the personal development and wellbeing of young people. You will be an inspirational communicator, an effective leader and a reflective practitioner, ready to drive excellence in PSHE across the school.
To date, the PSHE curriculum has been designed by members of the SLT and delivered by form tutors. We want to move to a model in which PSHE is planned and delivered by a specialist teacher as much as possible. We would welcome applications from teachers with a complimentary KS4 subject to offer, such as Citizenship, Sociology, Psychology or RS. This role will be line‑managed by our Head of Humanities.
We strongly encourage interested candidates to arrange an informal tour of the school. Visiting in person is the best way to experience our vibrant community, outstanding pastoral culture and exceptional learning environment. To arrange a visit, please contact the Head of School, Mr Clark, via email at smcgonigal@heathsidewalton.org.
Closing date: Monday 5th January, at midday. Interviews: Week commencing Monday 12th January. Applications will be considered as they are received. We reserve the right to make an appointment prior to the closing date.
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting child welfare. Applicants must undergo child protection screening, including checks with past employers and Enhanced DBS disclosure. Committed to equal opportunities, we welcome applications from all sections of the community.
