Student Wellbeing Adviser (Ref. No. A999)

Full Time/Fixed Term Maternity Cover- 6 months/Aberdeen City Campus (cover may also be required at other campuses)

Salary: £34,816.03 - 37,476.26 per annum

We're on the lookout for a Student Wellbeing Adviser who's approachable, proactive and thrives in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the implementation of the Student Wellbeing Framework to ensure a comprehensive approach to student health and wellbeing at NESCol.

Mental health and wellbeing support will be facilitated through cross college events, workshops, appointments and initiatives aimed at promoting student wellbeing and identifying emerging mental health issues. You will also further develop engagement with vulnerable groups (incl. Care Experienced, Estranged Students and Student Carers) through proactive initiatives with a particular focus on social activities to reduce feelings of isolation and create a sense of belonging.

You will need to have an effective range of communication and organisational skills with the ability to demonstrate an understanding of anxiety, depression and other emotional difficulties and how they might present.

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. An HNC/SVQ Level III qualification (SCQF Level 7) or equivalent
  2. ASIST Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training or equivalent
  3. A Mental Health qualification*
  4. Counselling Skills Training*
  5. Evidence of continuing professional development

EXPERIENCE

  1. Experience of supporting students through a support related process*
  2. Experience of working with people who have experienced a mental health problem
  3. Experience of working with students in a variety of settings*
  4. Experience of assessing risk and managing people who are in mental health crisis
  5. Experience of creating e-learning materials*
  6. Experience of presenting information

KNOWLEDGE

  1. The ability to demonstrate an understanding of anxiety, depression and other emotional difficulties and mental disorders and how they might present in people
  2. Knowledge of the FE sector*

SKILLS

  1. Excellent digital skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
