College Student Support Worker for Individuals with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD)

We are looking for compassionate and dedicated individuals to join our team, offering personalized care and engaging support to adults with complex health, sensory, and communication needs.
Responsibilities
- Personal Care & Health: Assisting with daily activities such as feeding, personal hygiene, administering medication, and supporting individuals with complex medical needs.
- Communication & Sensory Support: Using communication aids like Makaton, PECS, or eye-gaze technology to help individuals express themselves and engage with their environment.
- Mobility & Physical Support: Assisting with mobility, supporting physical development, and ensuring individuals are comfortable and safe using mobility aids such as hoists.
- Personalized Learning & Engagement: Supporting and implementing individualized support plans (ISPs), promoting participation in educational and recreational activities, and encouraging independent living skills.
- Team Collaboration: Working closely with healthcare professionals, therapists, and social workers to provide a holistic approach to care and ensure consistency in support.
- Advocacy & Well-being: Advocating for the rights and dignity of individuals, ensuring they receive the support they deserve and promoting their emotional well-being and independence.
Who We're Looking For
- A genuine passion for supporting individuals with learning disabilities
- Strong communication skills, including familiarity or willingness to learn AAC (e.g., Makaton, PECS)
- Adaptability to respond to individual needs and changes in support requirements
- The ability to work collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team
- Problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to care
- Previous experience is an advantage, but not essential - we offer full training and support.
