A major highways organization is looking for a Structures Engineer to join their team managing over 3000 structures. This role involves supporting asset management, project management, and conducting structural assessments. The ideal candidate will have a relevant degree or HND, experience in structure studies, and strong communication skills. The position offers hybrid working options from various locations, such as Leeds and Wakefield, along with a focus on maintaining infrastructure resilience.
National Highways has an excellent opportunity for a Structures Engineer to join our Structures team within Operations, managing over 3000 structures across the North East of England.
As a Structures Engineer, you'll play a key role in supporting the management of our structural assets. This includes identifying maintenance and improvement needs, developing schemes to address those needs, and contributing to the long‑term resilience of our infrastructure. You'll also be involved in project management activities such as budget oversight and supply‑chain coordination, helping us deliver effective asset maintenance and renewal programmes. Depending on the needs of the team, you may contribute to developing scheme options and preliminary designs, or undertake structural reviews and assessments.
This role can be based from either our Wakefield, Darlington or Leeds offices on a hybrid basis.
You will be required to drive as part of your role and you will need to have a full driving licence, with no more than 3 points, to be considered for this position.

External candidates will be offered a starting salary at the lower end of the pay scale, while current employees will be appointed in accordance with our established pay policy.
