Job description
Neway International are seeking a Street Works Coordination and Permitting Officer to join our client, the London Borough of Islington.

Hours: 35 per week (08:30 – 16:30)

Start Date: 06/01/2026

End Date: Initially for 3 months, likely to be extended

Pay Rates: £26.26 PAYE / £34.73 Umbrella

About the Client

The Highways and Street Works service has responsibility for managing the borough’s road network, ensuring traffic flows efficiently and disruption is minimised.

The Role

This role is essential to the coordination and permitting of all works taking place on Islington’s roads, both planned and emergency. You will play a key part in fulfilling the council’s statutory network management duty, ensuring compliance, maintaining income levels, and reducing the impact of works on residents and businesses.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and manage street works across the borough, including planned and emergency works.
  • Issue permits and ensure compliance with statutory requirements.
  • Monitor and manage the impact of works to ensure the expeditious movement of traffic.
  • Liaise with contractors, utility companies, and internal teams to ensure effective communication and delivery.
  • Maintain accurate records and reporting to support funding requirements.
Candidate Requirements
  • Experience in highways, street works, or network management.
  • Strong organisational and coordination skills.
