Job description

As a Strategic Sourcing Officer, you will manage specific categories within the 2bn+ UK&I spend portfolio and provide analytical and operational support to the Strategic Sourcing team. You will play a critical role in ensuring data accuracy, preparing reports, and supporting sourcing projects with research and insight. This role is ideal for someone looking to develop a career in procurement and supply chain.

Responsibilities
  • Category Management: Manage designated sourcing categories, analysing spend and identifying opportunities for value creation.
  • Supplier Engagement: Build strong supplier relationships, monitor performance, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Data & Analysis: Analyse spend data, supplier performance, and market trends to inform sourcing strategies.
  • Reporting Support: Prepare category, market, and inflation reports for the team and wider business.
  • Project Support: Support sourcing projects with data gathering, supplier due diligence, and benchmarking.
  • Process Management: Ensure compliance with sourcing processes and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Learning & Development: Develop procurement knowledge and skills through on-the-job experience and mentoring.
Team & Customers

You will be joining the Strategic Sourcing team, a key function within our broader Supply Chain department. Collaboration is essential; you will work closely with partners across the department and the wider business, both locally and globally, to ensure alignment and drive impactful outcomes. Your customers include internal stakeholders across Quality Assurance, Food Safety, Nutrition, Logistics, Business Planning, Digital, Sustainability, Indirect Sourcing, Food Development, Marketing, Finance, Business Strategy & Insight, Operations, and Impact, as well as external Supplier Partners and third‑party Distributors.

Qualifications
  • Education: Degree (or equivalent) in any discipline.
  • Experience: Some procurement experience in food, beverage, packaging or operating supplies; experience in supplier/partner management and development; demonstrated experience in category strategy and objective setting.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Teams; computer literature with ability to quickly adapt to new software and tools.
  • Leadership & Interpersonal Skills: Strong team player with ability to build and maintain relationships; pragmatic, thoughtful, customer‑driven approach; ability to lead challenging situations in a timely manner, considering the needs of all partners.
  • Communication & Feedback: Ability to give and receive feedback and use it positively for development; strong written and verbal communication with an adaptable style dependent on audience.
  • Strategic & Networking Skills: Demonstrated capability to build validated networks and relationships across the business; strategic approach to interactions with all partners and suppliers to achieve desired outcomes.

Interview Process
