Amazon is seeking a Strategic Sourcing Manager to join the Global Corporate Procurement (GCP) Team. Key leadership traits required include the ability to influence and form partnerships with business leaders, influence vendor relationships, and operational excellence in managing multiple complex priorities simultaneously. Strategic Sourcing Managers are expert practitioners in tools for creating competitive environments, bias for data‑driven decision‑making, and routinely advise Amazon leaders on the direction of sourcing projects.

This position is office‑based; however Amazon encourages open communication about unique needs for flexible arrangements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish strong relationships with internal business stakeholders and understand strategic business direction requirements and priorities across assigned suppliers or spend categories.
  • Dive deep across multiple business units to leverage the supplier base with the goal of optimizing performance, quality and cost.
  • Evaluate supplier core competencies and competitive positioning using industry cost models and benchmarking; leverage key insights to inform and support the strategic sourcing strategy development process.
  • Manage the fundamentals of sourcing and supplier engagement activities including RFx spend‑pattern analysis, contract analysis, bid evaluation, negotiations and supplier consolidation.
  • Identify sourcing opportunities by leveraging spend analysis tools and engage with stakeholders to consolidate requirements over categories, suppliers and geographies.
  • Work with business and finance leaders to identify and drive savings and controllership improvements, optimizing return on investment and total cost of ownership.
  • Provide guidance to internal stakeholders on procurement processes and best‑practice tools such as category management, supplier evaluation and supplier diversity.

Key coverage areas: Marketing, Professional Services, Employee Services, Technology, Logistics, Real Estate and Facilities services.

Qualifications
  • Demonstrated strategic sourcing experience, including experience in an indirect procurement function at a multinational corporation.
  • In‑depth experience in best‑in‑class procurement practices (category management, benchmarking, RFX, contracting, etc.).
  • Experience leading complex sourcing initiatives across Professional Services.
  • BS / BA degree.
  • Skilled negotiator with proven experience in setting negotiation strategies and leading negotiations.
  • Knowledge of commercial agreement structures and key legal terms.
  • Strong analytical thinker able to draw conclusions from large data sets.
  • Customer‑obsessed self‑starter with the highest integrity and ethics.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience working in a large global, highly matrixed organization.
  • Ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects with frequent communication, organization, time‑management and problem‑solving skills.
