A global insurance leader is seeking a Strategic Reinsurance Counsel in London. The role involves supporting complex reinsurance issues and negotiating contracts. The Legal Group of American International Group, Inc. (NYSE: AIG) is seeking a Strategic Reinsurance Counsel to join its legal department in London. This position will report to the Global Head of Reinsurance Legal for AIG.
Collaborate with the Head of Reinsurance Legal in the support of special projects involving complex reinsurance issues.
Work closely with the Executive Vice President Reinsurance and Corporate Development team to support growing strategic reinsurance transactions.
Provide support to both the internal reinsurance and ceded reinsurance teams on drafting, reviewing and negotiating reinsurance and related contracts.
Assist with corporate governance and organizational structure activities as they relate to reinsurance.
Interface with the underwriting, claims and finance groups to address reinsurance-related legal issues.
Substantial and expansive legal experience with a major international law firm or relevant in-house insurance industry experience, with a demonstrated focus on global insurance legal, transactional and regulatory issues
Proven successful experience leading a team of high performing professionals who support global business clients on insurance and reinsurance related matters
Demonstrated commercial mindset, such to provide practical and effective insight to stakeholders and team members, with an eye on moving our businesses forward
Top academic credentials and excellent written and oral communications skills
Strong organizational and project management skills
Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a strong focus on collaboration
Proven leadership abilities
Admitted and practicing member of the bar or equivalent legal qualifications, credentials, and licensure
For positions based in New York City, NY the base salary range is $225,000-$280,000 and the position is eligible for a bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable incentive plan. A summary of benefits can be viewed here: 2025 Benefits Summary
