Job summary

A leading health organization in Wales is seeking a Full-Time Sterile Services Technician to enhance the efficiency of their Sterile Services Department. Responsibilities include operating sterilisation equipment, managing instrument trays, and ensuring compliance with quality systems. Candidates should have an NVQ Level 2 and preferably some experience in a sterile services environment. The role also promotes communication and teamwork within departments, and encourages applications from Welsh speakers.

Job description
Sterile Services Technician with Additional Duties

We are recruiting a Full-Time Sterile Services Technician with Additional Duties. Technicians contribute to the overall effectiveness of the Sterile Services Department by working efficiently within Good Manufacturing Practises, assembling and packing comprehensive surgical instrument trays, supplementary instruments and procedure packs for use in theatres and other clinical departments.

To safely operate washer disinfectors, sterilisers and any other decontamination equipment within the department. To control the collection and dispatch of each instrument set, supplementary and procedure pack to the correct operating theatre, ward, clinic and department. To overall comply with departmental quality systems and BCUHB policies.

Main duties of the job
  • To undertake allocated tasks within the Sterile Services as identified by the Manager/Supervisor in charge and in accordance with SSD Procedures and BCUHB Policies.
  • The post holder must recognise that quality is an integral part of the service and therefore must continue to review and improve the service to meet the need of the local population.
  • Promote good working relationships between SSD colleagues and BCU staff and participate in the promotion of the SSD and the BCUHB.
  • On a daily basis communicate concise information to SSD colleagues and BCU staff giving and receiving handover of care.
  • Assist the manager/production supervisor with the control of visitors to the sterile services department.
  • Use available resources in the most cost effective way, ensuring safe and efficient patient care.
  • It is accepted that overtime may be requested from time to time.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
