You will assess and manage patients, develop clinical protocols and collaborate with specialists to ensure the highest level of patient care. The position offers a competitive salary, flexible benefits, and opportunities for further research qualifications.
Role: Stereotactic Clinical Fellow
Town / Site: 35 Weymouth St, London W1G 8BJ, The Harley St Clinic
Full time / Part time: Full Time
Shift times: (Monday/Friday) 8:00am – 8:00pm or 9:00am - 5:00pm. Possibility of extension.
Salary: Highly Competitive.
We’re looking for a Stereotactic Clinical Research Fellow to join our medical teams at The Harley St Clinic London. The fellow will deliver oncological care for MRL (Magnetic Resonance imaging Linac) patients in conjunction with the patient's own consultant, primarily providing the clinical aspects of daily plan adaptation, in particular contouring, and assessment of doses to targets and organs at risk, with appropriate escalation of matters arising to the patient’s primary consultant if needed. The other clinical components of the role involve assessment and acute management of “on treat” patients as required and counselling and consent for stereotactic radiotherapy. The fellow will collaborate closely with the wider MRL MDT, to facilitate a seamless MRL patient pathway and ensure an excellent patient experience.
The MRL Clinical Research Fellow will also have non-clinical responsibilities related to the set-up and ongoing evaluation of the MRL service, which is shortly coming online as a new HCA radiotherapy modality. They will be involved in the development of clinical protocols and take a leading role in auditing patient outcomes following MRL treatment, including the maintenance of rigorous patient follow-up in a well-designed database. The fellow will be facilitated to present this work in publication and/or at conferences. In addition to clinical service evaluation, the fellow’s job plan includes dedicated time and support for research activities, which will lead to attainment of a higher research degree.
It should be noted that this role does not entitle the post holder to admit or treat private patients within the hospital. However, where the post holder is required to treat or attend a patient as a result of a consultant request, or as an emergency, or other reason, the fellow will carry out such treatment as part of his/her normal duties until the patient is referred to a recognised hospital consultant. There will not be any on-call commitment to the post but the hours may involve early starts (7:30am Stereotactic MDT on Tuesdays, usually not more often than once or twice a week) and late finishes.
