This role involves coordinating and monitoring laboratory quality systems, ensuring compliance with standards, and developing materials testing procedures. The ideal candidate has an Advanced Diploma in Laboratory Operations and strong negotiation and communication skills. This position offers a rewarding career with flexible working hours and various benefits, including training opportunities and attractive leave provisions.
People and businesses rely on our roads every day — to get to work, return home, and travel throughout Western Australia.
At Main Roads we are committed to delivering a world‑class road network and creating positive, lasting impacts for WA communities. We play a critical role in overseeing the planning, design, construction, maintenance and operations of major roads and highways across the State.
We work closely with our portfolio partners, the Department of Transport and Major Infrastructure, the Public Transport Authority and local governments to support the needs of all road users across the state by providing an integrated world‑class road transport network.
We are looking for a Standards Coordinator to join our Materials Engineering team and play a vital role in ensuring that Main Roads Materials Engineering standards, guidelines, methods and processes used across Western Australia are implemented effectively.
In this role you will coordinate, monitor, audit and assist in the adherence and implementation of the Main Roads Laboratory information management, including maintaining systems to record and analyse the construction materials project performance data.
You will also support the development and review of materials test methods, guidelines, procedures and standards and undertake research applicable to the development of these standards. You will also provide advice on auditing testing requirements and procedures and liaise with regional laboratories regarding materials and product testing.
Having the ability to build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships is essential in this role, as you will be collaborating with internal teams, external partners, local government and community stakeholders.
This role will be based in Perth Metropolitan (Welshpool); however, the successful candidate must be willing to undertake regional deployments for a period of time across the state.
At Main Roads, you can have a challenging, flexible and rewarding career that takes you exactly where you want to go with an organisation who supports a healthy work‑life balance to help with what is important to you.
In addition to rewarding work, and the security of a permanent position, some of the benefits of working with Main Roads include:
