Overview

Are you a nurse looking for a new opportunity or challenge in a Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit? The Female Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit based within St Ann’s Hospital has an exciting opportunity for a Staff Nurse to join our team.

Haven Female PICU is a 5 bedded female PICU that provides a high level of effective and compassionate care to women who are experiencing the most acute phase of a serious mental disorder. We utilise a range of interventions to ensure we adhere to best practice and provide excellent care to our patients at all times.

We are looking for suitably qualified and caring individuals who wish to work in a fast paced and challenging environment. You will have excellent clinical skills and be a team player who is emotionally intelligent and able to remain calm when managing potentially testing situations. Responsibilities and duties

• Provide nursing care within a specialist Female PICU setting in a fast paced environment.

• Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to support patients through the acute phase of their mental health condition.

• Deliver care that aligns with best practice and the service’s values, ensuring a calm and therapeutic approach in a low stimulus environment.

Qualifications and requirements

• Newly qualified nurses are welcome and a comprehensive and fully supported Preceptorship Programme is provided alongside a ward based induction.

• If applicable, sponsorship for Skilled Worker status to work in the UK is not accepted for this position.

• Completion of a Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression course is a condition of employment; failure to complete will prevent commencement in the post.

• You will be required to undertake a DBS check (Enhanced). The Trust will cover the cost of the DBS, and applicants who subscribe to the DBS update service may present a valid certificate.

Training and development

As a specialist service, opportunities exist to develop skills with specialised training such as RAID, CBT, enhanced risk assessment, and enhanced physical health interventions. After a successful 3 month probation, you will meet with your supervisor to discuss a personal development plan to identify learning and training needs.
