Staff Nurse - Oral & MFS

Band 5 Registered Nurse - Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery outpatients dept.

Part-time: 22.5 hours per week

We are looking for an experienced and motivated nurse with excellent communication skills to work in our maxillofacial outpatient department. We are a small MDT comprising of registered nurses, registered dental nurses, health care assistants and surgeons.

Surgical experience within minor head and neck and plastic surgery and/or experience of wound management would also be desirable but not essential, full training and supervision will be provided.

Main duties of the job
  • Delivering nurse‑led specialised dressings clinics. This will give the post holder the opportunity to learn specialised wound‑management skills; training, support & guidance from the senior nursing team will be provided as required.
  • Supporting and assisting the maxillofacial and oral surgeons as a scrub nurse in the minor skin and oral procedures clinic within our OPD – patient procedures are undertaken using local anaesthetic. You will act as a patient advocate and have the opportunity to follow your patient’s journey from diagnosis to discharge.
  • Supporting the running of outpatient clinics.
