Job description

To facilitate multidisciplinary patient-centred care in the role of named nurse/team leader. To administer and support in allocated Medical interventions with the right training and competencies in order to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care.

On a regular basis, accept the responsibility for the management/leadership of the department in the absence of the senior nurse ensuring the governance of the department is maintained according to local and national Policy. To participate in the supervision and teaching of staff and students.

Main duties of the job
  • To administer treatments to medical patients in order to assess, plan, implement treatment and evaluate patient care. This will involve some additional competencies to ensure safe administration of complex treatments.
  • To practice as a named nurse/team leader taking responsibility for a defined caseload of patients on a continuing basis and a specific domain of care provision.
  • To assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care for unwell patients presenting ad hoc and during planned care in the unit.
  • In the absence of a Junior Sister effectively manage complaints and report to the Senior Sister / Charge Nurse.
  • To promote collaborative working partnership and effective communication between all members of the multi-disciplinary team.
