Job Summary

An exciting opportunity for a Band 5 Interventional Radiology Staff Nurse to develop skills and knowledge by joining our expanding nursing team.

The Interventional Radiology Department offers ultrasound, X‑ray and CT guided diagnostic and interventional treatments. It serves a diverse patient group across all ages and specialties, requiring roles such as scrub, circulating and recovery nurse. The role includes working in CT to cover interventional procedures.

Our small nursing team works closely with radiographers, radiologists, radiology assistants, healthcare support workers and administration staff.

Main Duties

The department runs a daytime service Monday–Friday with varying shifts. With training you will also cover the 24‑hour on‑call service, every third weekend of the month and bank holidays. Further training may allow you to administer intravenous conscious sedation, requiring advanced monitoring during procedures.

Responsibilities include the care and management of patients during ultrasound and CT guided procedures, for both inpatient and day‑case patients, often in collaboration with the anaesthetic team.
