A specialist SEMH school in Longsight seeks a committed Sports Coach to engage and support pupils with emotional challenges. As a Sports Coach, you will use physical activity to aid emotional regulation and promote personal development. Ideal candidates will have training in de-escalation and behaviour management, with experience in SEMH or SEND education. This is not your average Sports Coach role – it's(normally a chance to be a positive role model, calm presence, and consistent support for pupils who need it most. As a Sports Coach, you'll use structured physical activity to support emotional regulation and engagement.
You’ll work closely with pupils who may display challenging behaviour, using physical activity and structured engagement to help them regulate emotions, build resilience, and re‑engage with learning. Every day is different, fast‑paced, and genuinely rewarding for a committed Sports Coach. This temporary to permanent opportunity is ideal for a Sports Coach who thrives on challenges.
As a Sports Coach, you will be responsible for:
You’ll play a key role in promoting positive behaviour, emotional wellbeing, teamwork, and personal development acrossofen the school.
The successful Sports Coach must hold current training in de‑escalation and behaviour management, including at least one of the following: Team Teach, MAPA / Skip Training, PRICE Training.
The ideal Sports Coach is calm under pressure, resilient, and genuinely passionate about supporting vulnerable young people. You may come from a background in:
