Job summary

An educational recruitment agency is looking for a passionate Speech, Language and Communication Needs Teaching Assistant to make a positive impact on students’ communication skills. This role will involve working closely with teachers and therapists to support children with special needs in a primary school environment in Chelmsford, starting in January 2026. The ideal candidate should have a relevant degree and experience in an educational setting.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children with speech, language and communication difficulties.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting teachers in delivering engaging and interactive lessons.
  • Work with children on a 1:1 and small group basis to help overcome their barriers to learning.
  • Assist the speech and language therapist in implementing individualised therapy plans.
  • Conduct one-on-one or small group sessions with students to practice speech and language skills.
  • Monitor and document student progress and adjust therapy techniques accordingly.
  • Collaborate with teachers and parents to develop strategies for incorporating speech and language goals.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Education
