A healthcare trust in Wakefield is seeking an experienced Band 7 Speech and Language Therapist to provide specialist assessments and interventions for adults with communication and swallowing difficulties. This role is fully on-site across two hospitals and involves managing complex dysphagia cases as part of a multidisciplinary team. Candidates should have a degree in Speech and Language Therapy, HCPC registration, and proven experience in an acute setting. The position is initially for five months but includes the possibility for part-time arrangements.
We are recruiting an experienced Band 7 Speech and Language Therapist to join the Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust, working across Pinderfields General Hospital and Dewsbury General Hospital in Wakefield. This locum role is to cover maternity leave for approximately five months, with the option to extend for part‑time working arrangements.
You’ll play a vital role in delivering specialist dysphagia and communication assessments and interventions for adults within an inpatient acute hospital setting. This is a fully on‑site role, providing direct patient contact and collaborative work as part of a skilled multidisciplinary team.
You will be a confident and autonomous Speech and Language Therapist with a strong background in acute inpatient settings. You will have proven experience managing complex dysphagia cases, strong clinical reasoning skills, and a collaborative approach to patient care within the MDT.
