Job summary

A healthcare organization in Scotland invites applications for the role of Specialty Registrar in Ophthalmology. This locum appointment for training offers excellent training and experience in all aspects of ophthalmology at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary. Specialty Registrar LAT (ST1/2 or ST3+ Level) in Ophthalmology

Salary: £45,504 - £71,550 per annum

Applications are invited for the above Locum Appointment for Training (LAT) ST level post based at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary. One post is available from 4 February 2026 to 4 August 2026.

The post offers excellent training in all aspects of Ophthalmology. There is an active teaching programme. ST training onwards consists of “themed” 6‑month blocks and may be tailored to the training needs of the more senior LAT trainee. The LAT trainee will use the RCOphth e‑portfolio and participate in normal training with an educational supervisor and clinical supervisors in each subspecialty.

The weekly programme can be flexible to allow specific subspecialty experience in areas that will address deficiencies in the training for the more senior trainee, in order to provide the successful candidate the opportunity to gain CCT/CESR.

Applicants should have completed general professional training and it is desired that successful candidate will hold the MRCOphth or equivalent qualification, or new‑style Part 1 FRCOphth.

It is likely that the University of Aberdeen will offer Honorary Status.
