Overview

BSMHFT is excited to present our progression posts for psychiatrists interested in working towards entry onto the Specialist Register via the CESR route. We currently have one vacancy within our established Older Adults & Specialities services, based with the South Hub Community Mental Health Team for older adults. The routine work involves assessing new patients referred to the community mental health team and the ongoing treatment and management of patients under the care of the community mental health team.

Responsibilities
  • Assess new patients referred to the community mental health team.
  • Provide ongoing treatment and management for patients under the care of the community mental health team.
Qualifications and requirements
  • Approved, or eligible, for approval, under Section 12 of the Mental Health Act.
  • Full registration with the GMC.
  • Experience of psychiatry at a Core Training grade with a minimum of six months experience in old age psychiatry.
  • Excellent communication, team working and flexibility; ability to work in culturally diverse areas of Birmingham.
Development and expectations
  • Encouraged to participate in continuing professional development, audit, research and teaching.
