Job description
Overview

We have been assigned by an NHS Trust in the West Midlands to recruit to their Specialty Doctor in Emergency Medicine vacancy on a permanent basis.

Our client is one of the largest NHS trusts in the country. The Trust has an annual turnover of over £950 million, approximately 10,000 staff, and it sees over 500,000 patients a year. The Trust has a world‑leading reputation with two sites rated among the highest clinical ratings in the country.

In addition, our client was awarded the status of a generic Biomedical Research Centre by the National Institute of Health Research (NIHR) in 2006 for excellence in translational and clinical research – one of only five in the UK.

Responsibilities
  • Provide full shift 24 hour cover for the Emergency Department, 7 days per week, supported and supervised by ED consultants either directly or remotely.
  • Participate in regular weekly teaching sessions delivered by consultants, including mortality and morbidity meetings, and take part in quality improvement projects where encouraged.
  • Be allocated a clinical supervisor at the start of your time in the ED who will complete your induction.
  • Have the opportunity to complete Work Place Based Assessments in line with your training contemporaries.
  • Have access to a study leave budget and allocation of study leave.
  • Provide safe and effective care to undifferentiated emergency patients, participating in activities for improving quality such as clinical audit and governance.
  • Work with the appointee on career planning, whether to obtain exams or to support training applications or entry into CESR rotations.
