Responsibilities
  • Provide medical and psychiatric input for patients referred to the MHLT.
  • Work as part of a multidisciplinary team including nursing staff and other professionals.
  • Provide medical input to the service, support other members of the clinical team, and provide support to therapeutic interventions where appropriate.
  • Perform associated administrative tasks, including attending regular meetings with nursing and secretarial staff, dealing with requests for prescriptions, reviewing blood results, ECGs, neuroimaging and other medical reports, and completing clinical entries on RiO (the Trust electronic medical record) and associated letters and administrative tasks such as making and validating clinical entries and assisting in the completion of risk assessments.
  • Attend and actively participate in relevant team referral, case load zoning and review meetings.
  • Participate in new referral assessments and clinical reviews with other members of the MDT in either of the wards.
  • Work in a flexible manner as dictated by clinical need within the terms of the job plan and contract.

  • Develop daily living skills and coping strategies and work towards greater independence.
  • Develop a hopeful view of their future and realistic goals for their occupational, self‑care, leisure, environmental and psychological needs.
  • Increase stability in their life and their carers' lives.
  • Improve engagement with the mental health services.
  • Improve social networks and social inclusion.
  • Have fewer hospital admissions or spend less time in hospital if admission is essential.
  • Promote independence through facilitating service users in moving on to less supported accommodation.
