Role Summary

The post holder will primarily work in the 10‑bed PICU at the Linden Centre for Mental Health, providing short‑term, intensive care for patients aged 18‑65 in an acutely disturbed phase of a serious mental disorder. The role involves supporting patient care until transfer to a locality ward or discharge and maintaining effective communication with multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities
  • Attend ward and MDT reviews as scheduled
  • Carry out ward reviews when the consultant is absent
  • Admit patients during working hours and manage urgent clinical issues on the ward
  • Dictate and check discharge summaries for patients
  • Complete administrative tasks related to patient care
  • Support trainee doctors and collaborate with the multidisciplinary team
  • Attend weekly supervision meetings with the consultant
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Full registration with the GMC at time of appointment and Section 12(2) approval under the Mental Health Act 1983
  • Evidence of achievement of ST1/CT1 competences in psychiatry and likelihood of attaining CT2 competences by the start date
  • Professional references covering the last three years of employment (business contact information required); personal or character references not accepted
