A leading healthcare provider in Leeds is inviting applications for the role of Specialty Dentist in Restorative Dentistry and Acute Dental Care. The position involves working within consultant-led services to meet local and national targets and support treatment for patients, particularly those with head and neck cancer. Thispost will be split between the two departments with 60% of the proposedactivity being within Restorative and 40% in Acute Dental Care.

Atthe Leeds Dental Institute, we work collaboratively across seven clinicalservices, including strong links with the University of Leeds to ensure ourpatients receive the highest quality of care.We also provide care for our patients in our outreach locations based inBradford and Chapel Allerton Hospital.
Ourclinical services have a wealth of experience, and you will be workingalongside our dedicated professionals, including our dental nurses andadministration teams.
Ourstrong links with the University of Leeds allows us to provide high qualitytraining to undergraduates, postgraduates, apprentice dental nurses, dentaltechnicians and dental hygienists.
Wehave a fully equipped dental laboratory on the Leeds Dental Institute site, aswell as a 3D digital service
RestorativeDentistry and Acute Dental Care services to enable local and national waitingtime targets to be met.
Tosupport the head and neck restorative oncology service, endodontic care, seeurgent patients, clinical treatment and supervision/tuition of undergraduatestudents and acute dental care

TheDental Institute, established on 1 April 1992, integrated the Dental Hospitalat Leeds and the University of Leeds, School of Dentistry.
TheDental Hospital is situated on the ground floor of the Worsley Medical andDental building which also accommodates the Dental School, the Medical Schooland the University of Leeds Health Sciences Library. It is situated on the southern side of theUniversity campus half a mile from the city centre. Since 2003, the LDI hasbeen undertaking a period of rapid expansion and transformation. Outreachteaching clinics have been established in Bradford, Leeds and Hull. An ambitious refurbishment of the main LDIclinical areas was completed in 2012.

Keyobjectives of the post:
1. To work within consultant-ledRestorative Dentistry and Acute Dental Care services for patients requiringtreatment at the Leeds Dental Institute and to enable local and nationalwaiting time targets to be met.
2. To support the head and neckrestorative oncology service and willinclude, but is not limited to:
a. Conservative and endodontic managementof compromised teeth in patients with a history of head and neck radiotherapyor those at risk of medication related osteonecrosis of the jaw, for examplepatients having IV infusions of bisphosphonates following breast cancer.
b. Supporting the dental assessment ofpatients prior to the management of head and neck cancer.
c. Support for patients requiring acuteendodontic interventions prior to treatment for head and neck cancer and thosehaving acute problems during chemotherapy for other cancers.
d. Supportthe endodontic service within the department. This would involve endodonticprocedures following dental trauma, dentalanomaliesand other high priority groups.
e. Assessment and urgent treatment ofpatients referred for assessment of possible sepsis of dental origin andpatients awaiting cardiac procedures.
3. Toprovide clinical treatment and supervision/tuition of undergraduate students inassessment and management of acute dental problems and post-treatmentcomplications.
