SEND Teaching Assistant: Specialist Hub Support in Fleetwood

Are you a compassionate, resilient, and proactive Teaching Assistant with a passion for transforming the lives of children with complex needs? 🌟

Contract Details

Flexible, Term‑Time Only Work. This role is offered on a Temporary, Term‑Time Only contract basis, providing you with flexibility and the potential for long‑term consistency.

Pay Rate

£13.68 - £14.00 per hour (Based on experience and the length/commitment of the contract).

Immediate and Ongoing Needs
  • Daily Cover: Immediate need for TAs available to cover staff sickness and unexpected absences.
  • Short‑Term Commitments (Up to 4 Weeks): Perfect for those looking for brief, high‑impact assignments covering training or planned short‑term leave.
  • Long‑Term Roles (12 Weeks+): Opportunities for extended, part‑time, and full‑time placements, providing guaranteed, structured work and stability.
The Role

As a key member of our Hub team, you'll be supporting a small cohort of children with a diverse range of complex needs, including:

  • Cognitive Learning Difficulties
  • Speech, Language, and Communication Needs (SLCN)
  • Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD/SEMH)
  • Physical and Sensory Impairments
Responsibilities
  • Small Group and 1:1 Support: Delivering highly personalised activities and interventions, adapting resources to meet the unique needs of each pupil.
  • Communication: Utilising various communication methods (e.g., PECS, Makaton, visuals) to support verbal and non‑verbal pupils in expressing themselves.
  • Behaviour and Emotional Support: Implementing structured positive behaviour strategies and therapeutic approaches to help pupils manage their emotions and self‑regulate.
  • Collaboration: Working closely with the Class Teacher, SENCO, and external specialists to monitor and track pupil progress against their Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs).
What We Are Looking For

A relevant TA qualification (Level 2 or 3 is desirable) or equivalent experience.

  • Essential Experience: Proven experience working with children or young people with a range of complex special educational needs (school‑based or transferable experience welcome).
  • Personal Qualities: Exceptional patience, a calm and positive demeanour, resilience, and a genuine commitment to inclusion.
  • Skills: Strong ability to observe, record, and report on pupil progress, excellent communication skills, and adaptability.
  • A firm understanding of safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
