Job description
Responsibilities
  • Work with the Specialist Palliative Care Strategy & Quality team to improve end‑of‑life care across the Trust and partner organisations through the delivery of education and training to staff through formal and informal sessions, including ward‑based training.
  • Improve knowledge and confidence across organisational boundaries by sharing best practice.
  • Support the implementation of all local palliative and end‑of‑life care tools across the organisation and ensure tools are available for use.
  • Work with the Quality and Strategy team to identify areas of need/development and assist in the delivery of management plans.
  • Actively participate in local, regional and national audits.
  • Work with the Quality & Strategy team to support the delivery of the Palliative, End‑of‑Life and Bereavement Strategy.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills when conveying key messages about potential changes in practice relating to palliative and end‑of‑life care provision.
  • Support the specialist palliative care team and palliative and end‑of‑life project lead to develop staff confidence and competence when using end‑of‑life tools.
  • Provide clinical support and be an expert resource for the implementation and ongoing appropriate use of end‑of‑life tools across all clinical areas.
  • Signpost staff to appropriate palliative and end‑of‑life resources to guide care.
  • Be a clinical role model through attending safety huddles and board rounds to promote timely and appropriate use of palliative care resources and end‑of‑life tools.
  • Provide ward‑based training for professionals delivering end‑of‑life care, promoting the timely use of appropriate end‑of‑life tools.
  • Work with the Palliative Care and End‑of‑Life Project Lead to address specific developmental needs relating to the use of local end‑of‑life tools.
  • Maintain knowledge of local and national initiatives relating to palliative and end‑of‑life care and ensure compliance with role‑specific and essential training.
Qualifications & Experience
  • 1st level degree or equivalent.
  • Professional clinical qualification to a minimum of degree level, with up‑to‑date professional registration.
  • Willingness to undertake Master’s level study relating to education in practice.
  • Appropriate UK professional registration.
Desirable Criteria
  • European Computer Driving Licence, broad range of clinical experience.
  • Experience of teaching, supervising and assessing healthcare students in practice settings.
  • Experience of working across professional and organisational boundaries.
  • Practical experience of facilitating change.
  • Staff management/supervision experience.
  • Experience of developing and implementing new systems and procedures.
  • Knowledge of different methods/styles for teaching and learning.
  • Detailed understanding of curriculum development, including generation of learning outcomes.
  • Understanding of regulatory body requirements.
  • In‑depth knowledge of Quality Assurance principles and framework.
  • Working knowledge of Inter‑professional learning theory.
  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access) proficiency.
  • Knowledge and experience of the private, voluntary and independent sector.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to present to large groups and to teach/ facilitate in a variety of settings.
  • Ability to plan, implement and evaluate education programmes.
  • Excellent organisational, administrative and time‑management skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure, without supervision and use own initiative.
  • Ability to work flexibly, manage competing priorities and maintain high attention to detail.
  • Ability to write evidence‑based reports and understand quality improvement methodology and outcome measurement.
  • Ability to supervise staff on a day‑to‑day basis.
