Job description

This is an exciting opportunity to join an award-winning Thrombosis and Anticoagulation team at the Royal United Hospital (RUH), Bath. The successful candidate will work alongside the other Specialist Nurses, under the direction of the Lead Nurse and Lead Pharmacist, with oversight from the Consultant Haematologist for Thrombosis and Haemostasis. The role will involve reviewing patients post diagnosis of DVT & PE in clinic and managing patients taking anticoagulants. Venous Thromboembolism (VTE) prevention is also an important part of the role, with a requirement to carry out regular audits and investigate potential Hospital Acquired Thrombosis (HAT). You will be required to provide advice to healthcare professionals on the appropriate prescribing of anticoagulants and be involved in education and training. Opportunity will be given to develop and shape the role, as well as the wider service.

Responsibilities
  • To work alongside other specialist nurses, lead nurse, lead pharmacist and haematologist in managing the thrombosis and anticoagulation service at the RUH, Bath.
  • To carry out regular clinics with patients.
  • To provide advice to health care professionals.
  • To carry out regular audit and improvement work.
  • To carry out education and training.
  • To support VTE & anticoagulation stewardship ward rounds, including inpatient INR monitoring.
