Job Summary

We are recruiting a Specialist Nurse within the Forensic Assessment, Consultation, Treatment & Training (FACTT) Service, an established community forensic service for autistic adults and adults with a learning disability in Coventry and Warwickshire.

We are seeking an experienced nurse with a background in community and forensic work with adults with learning disabilities and/or autistic adults. Applications are welcome from staff who are currently working at Band 6 level or above.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in delivering specialist nursing care, supporting service development, and ensuring safe and effective clinical delivery across inpatient and community settings.

Main Duties
  1. Work with the clinical lead of the FACTT service to ensure safe and effective delivery of the service.
  2. Collaborate effectively with others to deliver agreed nursing responsibilities of the FACTT Service.
  3. Be operationally responsible for the healthcare and nursing staff employed in relation to the service, as directed by the clinical lead and operational manager.
  4. Organise and oversee the use of physical resources required to run the service.
  5. Contribute to future developments of offender group treatment programmes and the wider community forensic service.
  6. Provide teaching and training to staff and other professionals.
  7. Deliver specialist assessments and consultation to agencies (health, social care, third sector, probation).
  8. Coordinate referrals into the FACTT service including liaison with relevant commissioners.

Person Specification

Qualifications (Essential):

  • Registered Nurse Learning Disability (RNLD) or Registered Nurse Mental Health (RNMH)
  • Post graduate level qualification relating to forensic work e.g. Post graduate certificate in forensic practice, MSc Forensic Psychology, etc.

Knowledge and skills (Essential):

  • Knowledge of specialist forensic assessments and relevant nursing interventions
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • Knowledge and ability to adapt interventions for people with learning disabilities and/or autism

Experience (Essential):

  • Extensive post registration clinical experience with offenders with a learning disability and/or autism.
  • Experience of undertaking specialist forensic assessments, analysing the resulting information and giving opinion on this.
  • Experience of sharing knowledge and skills with staff through formal and informal teaching sessions.
