Job description

Overview

The Department of Anaesthesia & Perioperative Medicine is looking to recruit a Specialist in Anaesthesia to join our team of dedicated senior clinicians. The successful Specialist will work independently alongside Consultant colleagues to provide the highest quality of care to all of our patients. The successful candidate must have 12 years of experience since their primary qualification and at least 6 years working as an Anaesthetist. This post is based at QEQM Hospital, Margate with the opportunity to work across all three hospital sites.

Responsibilities

• You will join an established team of Consultants with several Specialists and Specialty Doctors supporting all general services of the hospital including the Emergency department, Theatres covering maternity, Gynaecology, Orthopaedic and trauma, major colorectal surgery and preassessment.
• You will work unsupervised while in theatres.
• You will provide supervision and education of resident doctors
• Involvement in undergraduate and post-graduate medical education.
• Lead tutorials and Department meetings, in rotation with consultant colleagues
• Assessment and preparation of patients for theatre and provision of immediate postoperative care.
• Participate in and actively present during clinical audit.
• Demonstrate evidence-based practice where appropriate.
• Undertake and participate in the appraisal process and job planning.
• Satisfy the criteria for revalidation.
• Contribute to leadership service development in areas of special interest and expertise.
• Actively participate in continuing medical education.
• Undertake personal appraisal and job-planning as part of revalidation.
• Maintain all mandatory training requirements.
