Job Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a passionate and driven pharmacist to join our vibrant Chapel Allerton Pharmacy Team at Leeds Teaching Hospitals. Main Duties
  • Deliver specialist clinical pharmacy services to rheumatology and dermatology teams, supporting day case units, home‑care medicines, and inpatient wards.
  • Lead medicines optimisation by performing reconciliation, targeted reviews, and ensuring smooth, safe patient discharges.
  • Take charge of medicines management across inpatient and outpatient areas, driving excellence in care.
  • Validate cutting‑edge targeted therapies across diverse sub‑specialities after receiving expert training.
  • Make your voice heard at MDT meetings, contributing clinical expertise to shape patient outcomes.
  • Be at the forefront of innovation, supporting the rollout of new rheumatology and dermatology treatments.
  • Influence high‑level decisions by assisting with Drug & Therapeutics processes, including unlicensed medicine applications and compassionate use schemes.
  • Drive improvement projects and take on link roles in key areas like medicines safety and antimicrobial stewardship.
  • Champion quality standards through audits and reviews, ensuring compliance with local and national guidelines.
  • Inspire and mentor future pharmacists, supervising Foundation and Trainee Pharmacists during their rotations.
  • Play a pivotal role in core pharmacy services, including supporting the Chapel Allerton Dispensary.

Responsibilities

Provide a specialist clinical pharmacist service to patients and the multidisciplinary team within a given specialty, ensuring medicines are used appropriately, safely, and cost‑effectively in accordance with Trust policy, standard operating procedures, and medicines legislation. Duties include monitoring drug use, recording significant clinical interventions, risk management, supervising and training staff, providing service cover in the dispensary, acting as the Responsible Pharmacist, and participating in drug & therapeutics processes, quality improvement, and clinical research.

Qualifications & Experience
  • MPharm (or equivalent)
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy (or equivalent)
  • Registrant of the General Pharmaceutical Council
  • Master’s qualification in Pharmacy (or equivalent) plus 1 year pre‑registration training
  • Ability to demonstrate competency in all domains of the General Level Framework (GLF)
  • Specialist knowledge of a clinical area/department, with experience managing a caseload within the speciality
  • Experience dealing with complex clinical issues, analysing varying sources of information to reach appropriate responses, negotiating and persuading multidisciplinary teams and patients
  • Experience supervising and training junior pharmacy staff and other health professionals
