Job description

A key role as specialist adult audiologist has arisen in the diverse Audiology Team at St George's NHS Hospital. The post holder will be expected to deliver a variety of clinics focused on adult audiology. This includes assessment and rehabilitation of patients who are audiologically complex, or have additional learning needs, as well as working with the adult team lead to run initiatives to manage the high demand on the service such as our recently introduced adult hearing aid masterclasses for patients and their carers. The post also includes opportunity to develop skills in advanced diagnostics such as speech audiometry, non-routine immittance testing, electrophysiology and/or vestibular function testing.

The post holder will be involved in the auditing and development/maintenance of adult hearing clinical protocols to ensure a high quality, effective service. An in-depth level of knowledge and experience of the relevant BSA and BAA protocols is therefore required.

The post holder will be the departmental designated health and safety coordinator and therefore needs to be a motivated individual with leadership qualities and a passion for service excellence.

You will be expected to deliver services at St George’s Hospital and nearby satellite clinics. You will also be expected to participate in research, service reviews and departmental audits in addition to contributing to the development of the audiology service.

The Department of Audiology and Audiological Medicine at St. George's Hospital provides a diagnostic and rehabilitative audio-vestibular service to people of all ages encountering problems with hearing, balance and tinnitus. You will be working within a large, dynamic and friendly multidisciplinary team who strive to offer an exceptional standard of patient care.
