The successful candidate will be a key member of the actuarial reserving function and will report directly to the Head of Management Reporting Corporate Actuarial. As a Specialist Actuary, you will play a key role in our team, contributing to the strategic decision‑making process and ensuring the financial stability and solvency of our organisation.
Responsibilities
- Perform actuarial analytics at the insurance segment and AXA XL division level to provide insights into emerging trends and to assist with reserve recommendations.
- Evaluate the ongoing profitability of key businesses feeding into regular business reviews to support portfolio management and strategy.
- Support the analysis and preparation of reserves forecasts for the division to give an early indication of the expected reported numbers before the half‑year and full‑year close.
- Consolidate the reserve analysis and results performed by the reserving teams across the division.
- Review and challenge the rationalisation for material reserve movements and impacts in the quarter.
- Assist with the reporting of analysis and results to the AXA XL Reserve Committees, Board of Directors, AXA Group and other internal/external parties.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to provide actuarial insights and recommendations.
- Contribute to the development of the AXA XL business plan each year, including reporting to the AXA XL Division and AXA Group management.
- Research and learn about new reserve, reserve risk, and claims analytics methodologies and develop new and creative solutions to actuarial issues.
- Analyse project requirements to own and deliver projects and initiatives with very high quality.
Qualifications
- New or nearly qualified actuary with the Institute of Actuaries UK, or a recognised equivalent professional body (e.g. CAS).
- Working knowledge of actuarial reserving software such as ResQ and/or other programming languages (e.g. SQL) and visualisation tools (e.g. PowerBI).
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to interpret and present complex data.
- Ability to multi‑task and work effectively in a fast‑paced team environment.
- Excellent written and verbal skills, including presentation skills.
- Effective project management and leadership capabilities.
- Outstanding computer application skills, specifically Excel and PowerPoint.
- Keen attention to detail.
- Adaptable and keen to learn.
- Team player.
