A public educational institution is seeking a Special Education Paraprofessional to enhance the learning environment for students with special needs. The role involves collaborating with school personnel, assisting in the implementation of Individual Education Plans, and ensuring the personal care and hygiene of students. Applicants should possess at least a High School Diploma or GED, with experience in an educational setting favored. This position requires regular attendance, maintaining confidentiality, and creating positive relationships within the school community.
Performs the full range of professional duties including collaboration with school personnel and the special education department, and supports the documented needs of the student. Special Education Paraprofessionals should be self-starters, flexible, and intuitive in supporting the needs of students.
175 days + up to 2 additional days of in-service = 177 days. Salary and calendar year to be evaluated in accordance with the Negotiated Agreement between the Iowa City Education Association and the Iowa City Community School District.
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the District’s policy on Evaluation, State Statute, and any applicable Collective Bargaining Agreement.
