  • Plus up to £6,200 per year in tips (paid weekly, based on last year's earnings), giving total potential earnings of £41,700 per year.

We are looking for an experienced Sous Chef to join our friendly kitchen team at our countryside pub and restaurant The Cornish Arms in St Merryn, Cornwall.

What you'll be getting up to:
  • Showcasing your superior skills in the kitchen as you deliver inspiring food.
  • Supporting Head Chef Ashley and taking ownership of the kitchen on Chef's days off.
  • Assisting the head chef with the scheduling, development and recruiting of new talent.
  • Keeping in touch with current food trends and having an input with suggestions for the menu.

Our story

Rick and Jill Stein started our family run business back in 1975, and today we employ over 600 happy staff. The business has grown from the first flagship seafood restaurant in Padstow to 10 restaurants across the south of England, plus hotel rooms, cookery school, shops and an online shop. Rick and Jill are still heavily involved in the business, as are their three sons Ed, Jack and Charlie.

  • Parking – we have free, onsite parking at the Cornish Arms.
  • Travel to work – St Merryn is located on the Newquay bus route, with the bus stop a short walk from our pub. St Merryn is an easy drive along the beautiful coast road from Newquay and a short drive from Padstow and Wadebridge.

The Cornish Arms in St. Merryn offers a simple British pub menu, with dishes like real beef burgers, mussels and chips and scampi in the basket. In the summer guests can sit outside in the fresh Cornish air and enjoy some of St Austell Brewery’s best ales and a great selection of wines, or cosy up by our log fires in the colder weather with some comfort food.
