Job description
Job Title: Sous Chef

We are seeking a skilled and passionate Sous Chef to join our high‑spec kitchen equipped with Rational iCombi ovens and a high‑performing team. This is a 35‑hour per week role, working 5 days out of 7, including some weekends. Shift patterns are 7:00 am – 2:30 pm or 11:30 am – 7 pm. Pay is £16.90 per hour.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver high‑quality, nutritious meals while ensuring food hygiene and Health & Safety compliance.
  • Work within budget, administer unit controls and seek ways to improve quality and cost‑effectiveness.
  • Develop innovative menus that meet cultural and Kashrut requirements.
  • Lead, motivate and encourage the kitchen team to achieve high customer service standards.
  • Support catering for events and maintain a positive kitchen culture.
Qualifications
  • Experience working in a busy kitchen environment.
  • Supervisor experience and relevant qualifications in food hygiene or catering services (NVQ Level 2 or 3, or equivalent).
  • Energetic, passionate and proactive attitude.
  • Experience working to deadlines and adhering to budgetary requirements.
  • Understanding of the sensitivity needed to care for vulnerable people.
