Job description
Overview

Our client is an innovative fintech scale-up transforming digital payment infrastructure. With significant growth and investment, they're building out a new Engineering Productivity function designed to accelerate delivery while ensuring quality across their platforms.

This is a high-impact role for a software engineer who is curious about stepping away from feature delivery and into a space where your work will make every engineer more effective.

Role Overview

This isn't a traditional testing or automation role. Instead, you'll be part of a new function that builds the frameworks, tools, and applications that enable engineering teams to deliver faster, better, and with greater confidence.

If you've ever enjoyed writing the mocks, the simulators, or the automation that makes everyone else\'s work smoother, this is where you can turn that passion into your career focus.

You\'ll take ownership of internal tooling projects, collaborate across squads, and play a pivotal role in embedding engineering excellence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, build, and deliver frameworks, tools, and applications to support engineering productivity.
  • Own internal tooling projects such as mocks, simulators, and test automation frameworks.
  • Champion a quality-first mindset, enabling teams to shift-left and improve efficiency across the SDLC.
  • Collaborate with product, architecture, and DevOps to create scalable solutions that support continuous delivery.
  • Provide insight into how tooling and frameworks improve engineering velocity, coverage, and quality.
Essential Skills & Experience
  • Strong software engineering background (C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python).
  • Experience delivering frameworks, libraries, or tooling that improve team productivity.
  • Familiarity with automation, CI/CD pipelines, and modern DevOps practices.
  • Understanding of quality engineering concepts (API, UI, backend, non-functional testing).
  • A curiosity-driven mindset, eager to solve problems by improving processes and building tools, not just shipping features.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Why Apply?
  • Fully remote working.
  • Competitive salary up to £75k + annual bonus.
  • Join a fintech scale-up at a formative stage of growth.
  • Focus on engineering excellence, productivity, and quality, a chance to pivot your dev career in a unique direction.
