AI Engineering at Capital on Tap

We\'re building a small team of 3 AI-specialist software engineers who embed directly within product teams to deliver intelligent features. Rather than operating as a separate unit, you\'ll work alongside existing teams as an internal consultant, helping them deliver AI-powered capabilities whilst building their skills through hands-on collaboration and structured training. A core part of the role is upskilling the wider Engineering department through workshops, documentation, and knowledge transfer.

What You’ll Be Doing

You\'ll partner with product teams to build and deliver AI features, working embedded within their squad structure. Your role is to enable teams to successfully deliver AI capabilities while upskilling them to own the features long-term.

  • Embed within product teams to co-deliver AI-powered features like chatbots, OCR tools, and transaction enrichment systems
  • Write production code alongside the team, ensuring they understand the architecture and can maintain it post-launch
  • Run workshops and training sessions to build AI competency across the Engineering department
  • Establish best practices for testing and evaluating non-deterministic AI systems
  • Create documentation, patterns, and example code for common AI implementation scenarios
  • Help teams identify where AI could add value to their product roadmap
  • Act as the quality owner for AI delivery across the company
Qualifications
  • 4+ years hands-on experience in C#, .NET Core
  • Proven experience building agents and automation powered by AI
  • Experience integrating with LLMs or other AI technologies
  • Good testing practices, in both Unit and Integration testing
  • A passion for learning and teaching new skills and technologies
